My spiel about the piece...

I painted the "The flowers will wilt there" just as Melbourne was emerging from lockdown towards the end of 2020. There was obviously a great sense of joy and relief to be able to get out, but I did find myself seeking comfort at home and a sense of solace in the familiar spaces I had been confined to all year. I wanted to capture the busy clutter of my kitchen and reinterpret the space with vivid colours and textures, celebrating an ordinary but much loved part of my house.
